Toddler-looking girl

Getting ready to go outside!

Cate is looking like a toddler this week (rather than a baby). She is starting to fit into some of her 18-24 month clothing. So stylish. Especially the "future librarian" t-shirt. I wonder who picked that out? Cate also received her first pair of saltwater sandals in the mail from Zappos.com today. Ah. I almost wish I had a pair in my size but I think my feet are too big for saltwater sandals…
Walking update: almost there. She's taking many unassisted steps per day but just doesn't want to go whole hog and walk everywhere.
After a nasty, rain-filled weekend, this week has been gorgeous. I love the sun. Telfer and I keep looking at our pasty skin and saying, "so this is what we looked like before we spent eight years in the sun."
A Mostly Good Week

our little people

Yesterday started off inauspiciously. I changed two poopy diapers before 8:00 AM, the second one Cate got her hands into and her pajamas soiled. So much fun. Finally, we get out the door and take Henry for his morning walk and I pick HIS poop up. And then, as we were about to leave the park and cross the street, a bird pooped on my head. All of this within 90 minutes of waking up. The day did get better.
One of our living room windows looks out on another apartment in another building. In December the old tenants moved and a new family moved in. Shortly thereafter, the new couple saw Henry asleep on the radiator and they held up their Westie through the window! They also have a 11-month old son. I finally ran into the husband on the street last week and exchanged information with him. The wife, Leah, and I took our babies and Henry and Luna on a walk in the park yesterday. New York is full of surprises.
What else? I think we are going to make another New Jersey Costco run this weekend. Also: Telfer and I saw Ghost Writer in the theater this week (together! We go to movies separately pretty often). What a smart thriller. Highly recommend.
Black & White Cookie
This video starts off slowly but when she gets going…boy. She loves the New York cookie.
Signs of Spring

spring?

Well, maybe. On March 1, I bought flowers to celebrate the end of February. There is a definite feeling in the air that spring just might be possible.
In other news, Cate's picture is in the March issue of New York Family magazine (the link isn't working quite right but Cate's picture is on page 32 – click on the left page view to see a bigger picture on the right. Confusing?). Photographers came to her little gym class about a month ago and took pictures for a story that the magazine was doing and Cate's picture made it into the article. Fun!
Chris and Mendy are here for the rest of the week. Cate is LOVING the attention and interaction with her grandparents. Wonderful to watch.
Also: my sister Alyssa turns 30 today! Wish I could take her out to coffee or to lunch. Someday…
