THE MATCH

On Thursday March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day to many and “Match Day” to a few, Andrea and I found out that we will be remaining Southern California for at least four more years. This is fortunate as our first choice for an internship year in Medicine and three subsequent years of training in Anesthesiology was to remain at Loma Linda.

Match Day started with a class breakfast and then a dramatic handing out of envelopes in which we each read the location of the next phase of our training. Later that evening there was a class party, naturally with green attire recommended (note picture from our big evening out), to celebrate either our good fortunes or at least the end of the long wait.

What is the Match? I will not go into much detail but for those truly interested is the following link to the National Residency Matching Program or NRMP.
