Our new renter and other doings

alan and henry
Originally uploaded by telfandrea.
- This is Alan, our new renter. Henry wasn’t too sure about him at first (meaning he barked uproariously every time Alan entered the vicinity). Situation is now under control. Alan has a little bag of treats. Alan and Henry are best friends.
- Telfer is celebrating his birthday on Sunday! And, miraculously, he also has the day off. What does he want for his birthday? Steak. Once tonight with Nana and Eleanor and once again on Sunday.
- And also? The new xbox and the new halo. Chalk up yet another reason for which I deserve a big, fancy medal.
One More Pretty Picture

Obviously, my idea of writing little stories to accompany the pictures our trip was a good idea in theory.
So one more of Prague Castle.
Dementors in Prague!

Telfer and I took one look at this statue in Prague and exclaimed "it’s a Dementor!" Thank goodness there’s only one.
Actually the statue is of Il Commendatore, a character in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.” I doubt he’s one of the good guys.
Espresso Paradise

Telfer and I consumed our respective body weights in espresso over the course of our trip. Espresso is high yield*. The taste is so incredibly concentrated, the caffeine high so immediate that I wonder why Americans insist on concealing their coffee in vast quantities of steamed milk. It’s really unfortunate.
This is a picture of my second double espresso in fifteen minutes at a cafe in Prague.
*High yield is a medical student term that has worked its way into our everyday family lexicon (unlike say, polymyalgia rheumatica).
