Sixth Wedding Anniversary Conversation

my look

Telfer, opening a cabinet full of our techie stuff:  Who dismantled my camera station?

Andrea: Uh, well, I had to unplug everything to download pictures – where are the nectarines we JUST bought at the farmer’s market?

Telfer: says nothing

Andrea, sticking a cherry in her mouth: We bought four and there’s just one here – where are they?

Telfer: I think they fell out of their bag and have been rolling around in the trunk of the car.

Andrea spins around to go out to the car and snap, Telfer takes the picture.

This is my really-annoyed but trying to hold it together look but better because I have a cherry in my mouth and have not taken a shower or applied makeup. Telfer thinks this is the funniest thing he’s ever seen and before now, never captured on film. This look says we have indeed been married for six years, good years, yes, but SIX of them.

So we went to Philadelphia

We have been back for almost a week now but this is the first chance I have had to actually talk about our trip…oh, how I love 400 emails in my work inbox.

The conference was way good. While I conferenced,  Eleanor and Telfer had major brother-sister bonding time. She came down to Philly and then Telfer went back to New York to spend a day with her. After the conference we explored Philadelphia, mostly on foot. Telfer has some impressive (read: disgusting) blisters on the bottom of his feet. I missed Henry of course and threw myself on a passing Westie who kindly obliged and gave me lots of nice  kisses.

This is what we did in Philadelphia: ate Cheese Steak sandwiches (of course), bought cookies and sticky buns in the Reading Terminal Market, visited the Rosenbach Museum and Library, the Phildelphia Art Museum (Telfer and Eleanor), the Rodin Museum, the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and Elfreth’s Alley. Whew. We went to lunch here and here and bought lots of books here.

Good times in SF

So, I got back from conference 1 of 2 last night. Not only did I learn many, many good and useful things about the library catalog, but I spent quality time with Elizabeth. I stayed one night in her apartment (very cute) and then she spent a couple night in my hotel room in San Jose. We of course did very sisterly things: talked, shopped, ate (who knew lobster corn dogs existed? Thank you to Elizabeth’s family she nanny’s for!), and consumed copious amounts of coffee.  My favorite moment? Seeing a Crown Vic (our family/high school car/boat) racing down the freeway after Elizabeth picked me up at the airport.

Today I am frantically running around at work and home trying to get ready to leave in the morning for conference 2 of 2. This time around: Philadelphia. Good news: Telfer is coming AND we are celebrating our sixth anniversary for a few days after the conference.

Another yard sale find

Our cutest 90-year old neighbor had a yard sale in her backyard this morning…I took over my cup of coffee and bought her set of pyrex bowls (one of my mottos: one can never have too many bowls) that she received as an engagement present in 1937.

Telfer is working most of the weekend so we took advantage of a small window of opportunity and went to see Spider Man 3..showtime started at 10:30 in the morning. We are officially middle-aged. My opinion: a total mess. Telfer’s opinion: loved itl!

I am off tomorrow to a conference in San Jose. Lots of librarian in one place…good times. Bonus: get to spend a day  with Elizabeth in SF/Belmont. Leaving early in the morning so I had better get some sleep.
