Vesparado

  Telfer on his new vespa

Telfer’s quest to become a better citizen of the world has culminated in the purchase of a Vespa (scooter). Driving the Chevy truck to work and back has been a little painful lately ($80 a fill up) and so…I originally was all for the idea, but have become a little bit of a nervous nellie (call me as SOON as you get there). Don’t worry, for those of you wondering, where exactly is his helmet, he wears one at all times. As soon as he figures out how NOT to run out of gas, we’ll all be happier.

Talk to your doctor using the Bristol Stool Form Scale

One of the questionable perks of being a resident (or the wife of a resident) is the drug-sponsored dinner. Usually we show up at a local chain restaurant, there’s a lot of friends present, we eat, we talk, we drink, sometimes we get a pad of paper or a pen covered with the name of the drug du jour. But the last dinner had something a bit more: posters covering the restaurant walls, highlighting the seven types of stools (with descriptions and pictures)…talk to your doctor…definitely the most camera-picture-worthy moment of my life.

Wood

  Wood

Somehow, we are celebrating our five-year anniversary today! I keep saying, "Five years ago RIGHT NOW we were at our rehearsal dinner" or "Five years ago RIGHT NOW we were getting our pictures taken." Telfer is getting a bit tired of the endless reminiscing…. Inspired by Amanda’s recent post, we decided to give ourselves a gift (what’s not to like about this concept) structured on the traditional anniversary gift list. As wood is the gift for five years, we found a wood-framed piece of art!

But a fortunate marriage offers more than mere "tranquil affection." It
is, in essence, a civilization of two, and its greatest joy is a
conversation that goes on for decades.

Work stuff

Elisa and me with our poster

I don’t usually post too much about my job, but I went to the annual meeting of the Medical Library Association last week in Phoenix. My colleague Elisa and I presented a poster on a podcasting project we have been working on. Phoenix is not exactly my favorite city. It was so freakin’ hot and windy (dirt in lipgloss is not a pretty picture). Anyway, I did attend a dinner at the Poisoned Pen bookstore that was great fun.
