My parents arrived on Saturday and we celebrated Cate’s birthday on Sunday. As the video attests, she loved her cupcake but loved her ribbon more. Classic. She continued to play with the ribbon from her packages (for the record: not the same ribbon in the video) for about a week after her birthday. She wasn’t nearly as excited by her presents!

Cate, the closer the camera, the cuter you are. I am impressed that your white shirt is still white after all that chocolate…you are emulating your Uncle Burton. Also, I notice that you have no problem at one year of age distinguishing what is to eat and what is to play with . . . cake, frosting, ribbon . . . love you! Grammy

Cute! She definitely liked that cupcake. It was funny how quickly she kept dipping into it. Like she couldn’t quite figure out that a different technique (ie. using her WHOLE fist) would yield better results. Can’t believe it’s already been a year. By the way, that’s a really cool high chair thingy you have there. Never seen one like that before.
