Shuffle the iPod

While J.R. did NOT tag me (he tagged Amanda), I wanted to play too!

List the first ten songs that come up on your iPod when you hit ‘shuffle’.

I did 15 songs while working on web stuff in my office this morning. I have a nano and so obviously I don’t have ROOM for 8,000 songs – more like 800.

I almost didn’t post this because I was so embarrassed that Bruce Springsteen came up FOUR times in fifteen songs. What can I say, I love the Boss. Also a little embarrassed about the whole Jessica Simpson thing. And Joni Mitchell, except that I love her. But I will not apologize for the Johnny Cash! Okay, enough!

1. The Crane Wife 3 – The Decemberists
2. Amsterdam – Coldplay
3. Both Sides Now – Joni Mitchell
4. Badlands – Bruce Springsteen
5. Doesn’t Have to be This Way – Alison Krauss
6. These Boots are Made for Walking – Jessica Simpson
7. The Promised Land – Bruce Springsteen
8. I Walk the Line – Johnny Cash
9. You Know I’m no Good – Amy Winehouse
10. A Boy Named Sue – Johnny Cash
11. Wildwood Flowers – Reese Witherspoon (from Walk the Line)
12. For You – Bruce Springsteen
13. Jesus of Suburbia/City of the Damned/I Don’t Care/Dearly Beloved – Green Day
14. Again Today – Brandi Carlile
15. Human Touch – Bruce Springsteen

Order of the Phoenix

Friday was a good day. Telfer didn’t have to work until 7 p.m. and so I took the day off. We went to see Order of the Phoenix and to a real lunch @ the Yard House. Real because we haven’t been to a restaurant since May (attempting to save $ for a trip in September). We thought Harry Potter deserved a restaurant.

My opinion: visually, it’s my favorite in the series so far. Wonderful sets, details, costumes (Umbridge). The script? Definitely not my favorite. While I agree that summer movies tend to go a little long (ahem, Spider Man, Pirates), twenty more minutes of building up characters and plot would have made this the best Harry movie.  My specific gripes? Show Ron more love – hi, he didn’t get to play quidditch AT ALL. And also? Cho Chang did NOT rat out the DA – it was her friend! I realize that the writers wanted a quick way to wrap up the Harry/Cho relationship but this was too simple. Anyway, I will stop as this is probably tiresome for most of you. Missy? We can talk later.

BTW: I realize the picture doesn’t make much sense on this post – but it’s so summery and Henry looks so cute walking.

Harry Potter Homework: We get an F

Harry
Apart from reveling in my newly discovered hipness (see below post), Telfer and I are officially naughty and deceitful (to use my mother’s two favorite words).

Since March, we have faithfully followed our Harry Potter homework, dutifully reading our chapter at a time, checking the chapter off the list (well, that was me with the checking), and closing our book when we just wanted to read on… no longer. Let me say that it was Telfer and NOT ME that first hatched this plan (offered up the  proverbial apple) but I quickly agreed and we binged on the last half of Half-Blood Prince. And it was good. Awaiting July 21.

Oh, Mom, close your eyes for this part. Telfer and I love Stephen King’s Pop of King column in Entertainment Weekly. This week he writes about Harry Potter.  We are feeling the sorrow too Uncle Stevie!

Happy 4th of July (a day late)

flag and vespa – perfect combo?

Hope everyone had a good 4th of July! We can see the celebratory fireworks at the University of Redlands from our yard and we tend to laugh a tad maniacally while the entire town waits in long traffic lines to get out of our neighborhood while we make the trek from our neighbor’s yard to our front door.

Incidentally, does anyone want a vespa? We have a nice, vintage one for sale…
