Library Baby Shower

Last week my library had the sweetest baby shower for me and Telfer (who was actually able to make it – wonders never cease)…so fun. I think they know me by now…Cate got lots of my two favorite things – books and clothes! Our secretary Sheila worked especially hard to plan a shower that she knew I would like…the table was full of cute food featuring cupcakes from Martha Green’s, a local Redlands bakery. I work with incredibly nice people.

There are more pictures off the flickr link – all taken by my colleague Elisa.

Cate’s Room

We have had a little too much fun planning Cate’s room. It’s not a traditional baby girl room but we think it’s pretty great. Telling people our nursery colors are teal, orange, grey & pink has been an interesting experience.

We wanted a more modern look AND didn’t want to re-purchase a bunch of items (bedding, etc.) in case we have a boy next time. We got a lot of ideas from the nursery site OhDeeDoh by Apartment Therapy in case any of you are thinking about planning a nursery anytime soon…

Top 3 Pregnancy Comments

3. Starbucks employee, after a long story about her daughter ends with: "You’ll never fit into those little jeans again [pause], no really, you won’t."
2. Unnamed coworker calls out in a crowded room: "you’re finally getting fat!"
1. Unnamed coworker when she almost walks past me: "I almost didn’t recognize you…your face has gotten so full!"

The thread: all offenders are women and none meant to be intentionally malicious which honestly makes these comments more funny than anything…but heaven help me before I say the words "fat" or "full" or "jean size" to a pregnant woman.

I have about 2.5 weeks left of work before I go on maternity leave and looking at my lengthy, type-A to-do list, I definitely need those 2.5 weeks. We have had the baby’s room done for a while now and I think Telfer’s going to take some pictures tonight…so maybe tomorrow I’ll post them. Fun, fun.

The Perfect Meal

In my mind, food doesn’t get much better than bread and cheese. Behold my birthday dinner. Maybe next year I could add a glass of wine for total perfection.

On Monday I took the day off and made a recipe that sounds fancy, Pomodori al Forno, but is basically baked tomatoes, goat cheese, and bread. Since Telfer doesn’t like tomatoes (how much he misses), I have felt decadent over the past couple of days.

Well, now you all know who I am voting for come November. But, isn’t this shirt perfect? And now you can’t say I am hiding my pregnant belly (Bekah!).

In other news, I am looking forward to a three-day weekend. On the agenda: Hollywood Bowl, Sprinkles, stroller shopping, lazing about, turning 30, you know, the usual. Don’t worry, I am not having a breakdown (not even a little one) about the big birthday.
