A Good Week

So, my first week back at work has gone really well. Cate is a good napper during the day (we still need to work on sleeping well at night!) and I had no problem getting in my twenty hours this week. I like working from home a lot – if I am disciplined, there are very few distractions and I feel like I have accomplished A LOT in twenty hours. A good feeling. Mendy has been here since Wednesday (going home in a few minutes) and it's been so good to have her here.

But. Let me show you a retrospective pictorial glance at our day yesterday.

outfit 2 – upper half

This is the upper half of Cate's second outfit. The picture doesn't do the messiness justice. Major spit up, both dried and fresh, festoon her onesie.  Have I mentioned she is a projectile spitter-upper? I can thank myself for those genes.

This is the lower half of Cate's second outfit at approximately 1:25 PM. A small blowout. Thankful for small mercies.

outfit three

This is Cate's third outfit that she wore until bedtime. As you can imagine, I do lots of baby laundry and have gotten quite good at removing stains. What I have learned in three months…

  1. Gabriel was a BIG spitter (we carried him in one hand and a rag in the other at all times) plus the usual diaper stuff but it will get better. I no longer find myself changing his clothes three or four times a day. He’ll even make it through a whole day in the same shirt & pants. Less laundry!

  2. I love it! (She’ll really appreciate those pics someday!)
Oh, I so remember that with Liam! We had 1-2 extra outfits with us at all times. If we were driving in the car and heard a blowout, we’d pull over ASAP to avoid soiling both the outfit AND the car seat. Now, go figure, Ronin NEVER has those. He’s a one-outfit-a- day kind of guy. A nice unexpected little blessing.
I can’t believe how much more grown up Cate is looking!

  3. Um, quick question – I thought poop came from behind? I am a little traumatized that it is almost half way up the FRONT of her. She is a busy girl :). Love you!

  4. Well, I don’t know where the..expansiveness comes from..but I heard that happened with Alyce a lot..maybe she’s too fat for her diapers already 🙂
If it hadn’t been for the first blowout, I think I wouldn’t have seen a picture of Cate’s Telfer-hair!

  6. oxy clean is my friend too! i love that stuff – bliss, not that great at laundry at first – had to throw away my share of onesies there for awhile! and I am not as with it as it appears – luckily, she naps well but man, I don’t have time for much else…
